HDTV deal with LGE means upside

Spatialight, Inc.: Rodman comments on impact of LG Electronics deal (HDTV) 5.18 -0.46: Rodman and Renshaw comments on HDTV's 3-year agreement with LG Electronics (L.E.G.). Firm believes the contract not only represents material upside to their prior model, but also validates the co's technology, which in turn should help mgmt close additional contracts, and as such are raising their 2005 est. Firm believes that the L.E.G. business could generate $60 mln in 2005 sales, on total shipments of 161K chip sets. On the China front firm expects the China business to be weighted toward the New Year there in Feb 2005, and are shifting out their expectations into 2005. For 2005, Rodman is raising revs est to $92 mln from $59 mln and raising EPS to $0.19 from $0.04. After the news, the stock actually went down, hitting 6 yesterday. I believe the view is this changes nothing until 2005, so why move now. LGE news was out previously, w.r.t the joint work.

Palmsource (PSRC) Entry in 17s

PSRC looks intriguing here. They have had consistently positive results, that have solidified the chart, with the 16 area being a firm bottom. Potential upside? Forward estimates are $0.68 and 84M in revenue for 2004, and $1.53 and 100M in rev for 2005. Secondary offering boosts their cash level to $88M, with a 12M share base, for $7 cash. That gives me a target of 20X earnings + cash or $21. 20% upside. Funny. PnF also gives a target of $21.25. Market closed at 17 today. Here's the chart> PSRC chart PSRC chart

Embarking a New Trail

I'm just beginning a new effort with my Stock Trading by using this Blog. I've seen success in my trading from time to time, and failure.  I've typically learned from my mistakes and been more patient.  A good example of this was my recent trade of Sandisk, SNDK.  I entered a position in May 2004 at about $24.  It and the market has fallen down since then, and SNDK was at under $20, as earnings approached.  By waiting and not making any rash moves, I am now sitting on a profit as it closed at $25 today, July 20th. My primary purpose of the Blog is to collect trading ideas and maintain them, almost like sticky note reminders of opportunities that might just be waiting for a better entry. That's about it for the introduction.
